Relationship difficulties can be the most perplexing dramas of our lives. Sometimes our relationships don't go the way we want them to, and worse still, we don't know why. We don't even know why our partner makes us so mad. We don't even understand ourselves why we have an almost allergic reaction to the person we love the most.

This is where psychological counselling can be invaluable. We examine our attachment styles, our relationship patterns. We look at how our past relationship experiences (with parents and with our former partner) influence our current relationship. We will find the roots of our behavioural patterns and understand previously unexplored causes - giving us a clearer view of ourselves and our partner.

Ultimately, relationship difficulties are often about a lack of self-acceptance. Trauma from early childhood, adolescence, previous relationship traumas can leave us unable to exist in harmony with the world and our partner. As we understand who we are, what has shaped us into who we are, and as we understand our partner's 'baggage', our relationship becomes more balanced.
