Why do we use cookies?
So-called visitor identifiers (cookies) are files or pieces of information that are stored on your computer (or other internet-enabled devices such as your smartphone or tablet) when you visit a page. A cookie usually contains the name of the website it came from, its "lifetime" (i.e. how long it stays on your device) and its value, which is usually a randomly generated unique number.
Based on expiry, there are two types of cookies that can be used on sites: session cookies and persistent cookies. Session cookies are temporary, meaning they stay on your device until you leave our site. Permanent cookies stay on your device for longer, possibly until you manually delete them.
Some of the cookies we use are only temporary and disappear when you close your browser, while there are some convenience cookies that are stored on your computer for up to 1 month so that if you visit our website regularly, your browser will remember your previous settings so that you do not need to accept our cookie notice again each time you visit or regularly adjust your filtering criteria to suit your needs.
You can also find our detailed cookie factsheet below.

Facebook can link this information to a particular advertiser or Facebook user using the Pixel identifier or Facebook cookie to determine whether that visitor has interacted with any of the advertiser's ads in the past, or whether they meet any audience attributes predefined by the advertiser to be included in an advertising segment. Facebook stores the data collected in aggregated and anonymised form in its own data centres.
